As we cautiously attempt to recover from the pandemic, the needs of the parish community are many. Seeing more and more of you at Mass is a very positive sign that some of you are ready to re-engage in the life of the community through various volunteer ministries and activities. With that in mind, I offer some options for you to consider.
Altar Servers—we are looking for parish children ages 10 to 18 who would be willing to assist at Mass on the weekend. Contact Fr. John if interested. (Training required.)
Ushers—we are in need of men or women 16 years or older, willing to take up the collection at a regularly assigned Mass so that we have an organized group for this ministry. Please submit your name to the parish office with the Mass time that works for you.
Eucharistic Ministers—for both distribution of communion at Mass and at our three nursing facilities that we service monthly, as well as communion to our homebound. Please contact Roger Pisani if interested. (Training is required.)
Garden Angels – are those willing to spend an hour or two weekly weeding and caring for one of the many gardens that surround the parish. Contact Fr. Joe for times and dates when you are available.
Hospitality Committee—the creation of a committee of adults willing to offer their services in both planning and implementing refreshments at our parish events and sharing in this charism that makes us uniquely Augustinian. Contact Fr. Joe if interested.
Parish Choir & Musicians —all ages are invited to join our parish music ministry. Please contact Roger Pisani if interested.
These are just a few of the immediate needs that would help us in our recovery after months of confinement due to COVID-19. Sharing your time and talent with the community is how we respond to our call to stewardship.
Our PREP registration for the 2021-2022 year is now open. Please go to the website www.omgcparish.org and click the YOUTH tab. You will find the 2021-2022 Handbook there. Please read the handbook carefully and either print out the registration form there or go to the electronic one under the YOUTH tab.
PREP this year will be in person. All students must wear masks unless a waiver is signed. We will begin at 8:50 am and at 9:40 am we will join one of the priests in the Social Center for Liturgy of the Word. At the conclusion of this, students will be led to church to join their parents for the Liturgy of the Eucharist at the 9:30 Mass.
