A Blessed Triduum & Happy Easter!
March 31, 2021
Dear Parishioners of OMGC,
The Easter Season is a singular time for us men and women of faith. It's the time to celebrate the commitment of God the Father to his beloved Son, and through Him to us, who have been made beloved sons and daughters as well. Saint Augustine reminds us that our very identity as a people is to be found in the great Easter event. For now, the song that is always fittingly on our lips must be a resounding “Alleluia!”
We see signs of new life in the buds bursting forth, in the green starting to return to our fields and our trees. We also look to the ever-increasing number of vaccinations administered, and we see more signs of life, signs of hope!
During this blessed season of new life and hope, I continue to pray for you and your families. I’m looking forward to the day when all of us will once again be able to joyfully assemble to worship our God without worries about numbers, social distancing, masks, and other precautions. Let us pray that those days come soon!
Before Easter, we celebrate the Sacred Triduum. Three deeply meaningful liturgies that make present to us the saving acts of Jesus on our behalf:
- Holy Thursday - The Mass of the Lord’s Supper
- Good Friday - The Celebration of the Lord’s Passion
- Holy Saturday - The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night
The times for these liturgies are listed below, at the end of this eNewsletter. We are happy to have Father David Cregan, OSA, preside and preach at the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Thursday evening.
Please come early! We continue to strive for a safe worship environment for you during this ongoing pandemic. As always, we have overflow worship space available in the Social Center or the gym if the need arises. For this reason, please arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to ensure a seat in the church for Triduum and Easter liturgies. Should there be a need, volunteers in the parking lot will direct worshippers to the overflow worship space.
Holy Land Collection. As one who has been given the privilege and grace of a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, I strongly endorse your support for the annual Holy Land collection scheduled for Good Friday. Those of you who receive envelopes have seen the envelope for this collection in your packet. The Franciscan Friars do an excellent job maintaining the sacred sites throughout Jerusalem, Galilee, and Judea. They also support Palestinian Christian families in those areas, whose lives have become more difficult as the years go by. Please be generous.

Christ's peace,
